Tour details

This private tour hits three of the best preserved and fascinating archeological sites of Rome. It operates only few days a week, when all three attractions are open to public, and it lasts 3 hours.

This private waking tour starts at the entrance of the Baths of Caracalla, the second largest bathhouse of Ancient Rome, and by fare the pest preserved. It dates back to the III Century A.D., and it was realised during the reign of the emperor Caracalla (hence the name). You will be able to walk among the massive ruins of the complex, that featured 4 different pools and and number of gyms, locker rooms and other areas, learn about social life in Ancient Rome and see some of the artworks and mosaics that decorated the place.

After the visit, a short walk will take to the Caelian Hill, one of the proverbial seven hills of Rome, which houses one of the most amazing treasures the Eternal City has to offer: a residential building that comprises over 20 rooms, mainly underground, spread on different levels. Some of the rooms are frescoed with paintings dating between the 3rd century AD and the Middle Ages. A hidden gem very few people know about, that will make you travel to the time of the Roman Empire.

Then, it’s time to make our way along the Villa Celimontana and through the Arch of Dolabella, to reach the Basilica of San Clemente. The Basilica offers the unique opportunity of experiencing different levels of Rome’s past. Below the church, finished in the Middle Ages, you’ll find another IV Century church containing some of the world’s finest medieval frescos. Going further below, there’s a Mithraic temple dating back to the II Century A.D., part of an older edifice that was built in the I Century A.D.

The visit to the excavations od Basilica lasts 30 minutes, after which the tour ends.

Our cancellation policy is 48 hours for a full refund. Please note that entry tickets are not refundable.
