Get ooff the beaten track on this private tour in golf cart and discover three of the best preserved and also fascinating archeological sites of Rome. It comes with entry tickets included and a dedicated guide, who will thoroughly lead you through the sites, show you other points of interest, and make the entire experience unique.
This private golf cart tour starts at your accommodation in the historical center, where you get picked up at 9am and head at once for the entrance of the Basilica San Clemente, which offers the unique opportunity of experiencing different levels of Rome’s past. Below the church, finished in the Middle Ages, you’ll find another IV Century church containing some of the world’s finest medieval frescos. Going further below, there’s a Mithraic temple dating back to the II Century A.D., part of an older edifice that was built in the I Century A.D.
Here, you can marvel at the mithraeum, a sanctuary of the cult of Mithras, that was built in the courtyard of the Roman building. The Cult, a mystery religion focused on the god Mithras, became very popular among the Roman soldiers between the I and the IV Century AD.
After visiting San Clemente, we get back to the golf cart to resume this private tour of the off the beaten track attractions. The next stop is at the Arch of Dolabella, the oldest in the entire. You’ll walk through it to reach the Caelian Hill, one of the legendary Seven Hills of Rome.
Hidden beneath modern structures lies one of the city’s most remarkable archaeological treasures — a vast Roman residential complex with over 20 rooms spread across multiple levels. Here, you’ll see well-preserved frescoes dating from the 3rd century AD to the Middle Ages, beautifully illustrating daily life and art during the Roman Empire. This hidden gem remains one of Rome’s best-kept secrets and an absolute must for lovers of history and archaeology.
Then, this private tour in golf cart off the beaten track takes you along the Villa Celimontana to another hidden gem of Rome’s, the Baths of Caracalla, the second largest bathhouse of Ancient Rome, and by far the best preserved. It dates back to the III Century A.D., and it was realised during the reign of the emperor Caracalla (hence the name).
You will be able to walk among the massive ruins of the complex, that featured 4 different pools and number of gyms, locker rooms, and other areas, learn about social life in Ancient Rome, and see some of the artworks and mosaics that decorated the place.
After visiting the Baths of Caracalla, our golf cart private tour goes towards the Aventine Hill, that houses the Basilica Santa Sabina (one of the oldest churches in Rome) and most importantly the Orange Garden, where you’ll be able to enjoy a breath taking view of the city. Finally, we will drop you off at your accommodation within Rome’s historical center.
Pick-up and drop-off service available only in the city centre.
