Pickup and Ancient Rome

Get picked up at your accommodation, upon condition it’s located in the historical district, and set off to discover Rome’s key sites on this Golf Cart tour. You will see the most known sites of the Eternal City: the Colosseum is definitely one of them. You will be able to enjoy a great view of the monument and learn its history, how it was built and what kind of shows ran there. After that, comes the Circus Maximus – the gigantic stadium for the chariot races – and the Palatine Hill, the legendary place of foundation of Rome itself, which was later chosen by several emperors for their palaces to be built.

On the way to the Trevi Fountain

The next stops are at the Mouth of Truth, to discover the story behind it, and at the Forum Boarium, to see the oldest standing building of the Eternal City. Navona and Pantheon

Then, we go to Piazza Navona, a very fascinating square with a unique shape, the origin of which you will learn on this private golf cart tour of Rome. The square features the Fountain of the Four Rivers, a 17th Century masterpiece realised by Gianlorenzo Bernini. After that, we reach the Pantheon, the best preserved of all Roman buildings. Erected in the 2nd Century A.D., to replace an older temple, it used to be the temple to all the gods of Ancient Rome. Turned into a church in 608 A.D., it’s the oldest place of worship in use, as holy mass still takes place here.

Castel Sant’Angelo and the Vatican

Finally, it’s time to head to the river Tiber, where stands the majestic Castel Sant’Angelo. Once the monumental grave of the emperor Hadrian, the building underwent several transformations (fortress, prison, papal residence, firefighters barrack) and it can be considered the best example of how the Eternal City has changed over time. From there, we head for Vatican City for a quick visit (only the square and the Saint Peter’s Basilica from outside) to the smallest country in the world.
